The Environment of Albania

With the coastline of Albania facing the Adriatic and Ionian seas, its highlands supported on the raised Balkan land and all extending to a width subjected to a series of weather patterns during the winter and summer seasons, Albania has a number of large climatic regions for such a small area. Coastal ponds have a typical Mediterranean climate, heights have a continental climate. In both low and low areas, weather varies significantly from north to south.

Inland temperatures are more affected by differences in height than by width or some other factor. Low winter temperatures in the mountains are caused by continental air masses dominating the weather in Eastern Europe and the Balkans. Northeastern and northeastern winds hit most of the time. Average summer temperatures are lower than in coastal areas and much lower at higher altitudes, but daily fluctuations are greater. Maximum daytime temperatures in the inner ponds and river valleys are very high, but the nights are almost always fresh.
